Create a Consolidated Markup from Existing Markups

Modified on Fri, 21 Nov at 6:22 AM

When working with multiple markups on a plan sheet, you may want to merge all visible markups along with your own new annotations into a single, consolidated markup. By ensuring the markups you want are visible, then adding your updates and saving them together, you can create a unified markup that’s easier to manage, share, and review. You can create a consolidated markup using:

  • Markups created by you

  • Markups shared with you that you have permission to view

  • Markups added to plan sheets as supporting attachments for items such as RFIs, Submittals, Punch List items, T&M work, etc.

To create a consolidated markup

  • Ensure you have the plan sheet open with all required markups you want to consolidate. If not:
    • Click the app launcher icon in the top-right, then select 'Documents.'
    • Click 'Plans' at the top and choose 'Plan Sheets' on the left.
    • Open the plan sheet you want to download by clicking its thumbnail.
    • Use the 'Search' box at the top-left to search for a specific plan sheet using sheet name or sheet number as your search criteria
    • Click the thumbnail of the sheet to open
    • Click 'Existing Markups' and select the markups you want to include. See View Markups if you need guidance on selecting the markups you want to view on the plan sheet

Recheck whether you have only the required markups open

To remove the unwanted markups, click the ' X ' icon beside its indicator at the top stripe

  • Click the  button on the top right

The Layer Editor lists all elements included in the new markup, including those inherited from other markups. Each element is labeled with a tag indicating the original markup it came from, making it easy to track and manage inherited content.

  • Use the markup tools on the right to add new elements to the consolidated markup as needed. (See Add Markups on Plans to learn more.)

You can:

  • Edit existing elements if needed.
  • Identify an element by clicking it in the Layer Editor—its corresponding element will be highlighted on the drawing.
  • Remove elements that are no longer needed.
  • Rename elements directly within the Layer Editor.
  • Once you are satisfied with all the elements in the consolidated markup:

    • Click the  icon on the top right to save.
  • Enter a new name for the markup and click 'Ok'

The markup is saved as personal markup. By default, the markup is set as private and visible only to the creator. To provide access to other team members, you need to share the markup. You can set access restrictions so that the markup is shared only with the persons and companies you specify. See Set Access Rights for Markups and Download Plan Sheet Markups for more guidance.
