You can view markups added to a plan sheet from various sources in two ways:
- Open a plan sheet from the Plan Sheets screen
- Select a markup from the list shown under Plans > Markups
This article covers how to open and view markups from the Plan Sheets interface. For instructions on viewing, editing, and removing markups from the Markups screen, see Manage Plan Markups.
When you open a plan sheet, the most recent markup applied to that drawing is displayed by default. This markup may be:
- One you created directly on the plan sheet
- One created by another team member that you have permission to view
- One generated when the sheet was attached as an illustration to an item such as an RFI, Submittal, Punch List item, or similar document
You can select any number of previous markups to display on a plan sheet at any time. When multiple markups are selected, the active markups are listed in the top bar, and their elements are color-coded so you can easily identify which markup each element belongs to.
Select Markups to View
- Ensure you have the plan sheet open. If not
- Go to the 'Plans' module, select 'Plan Sheets' from the left panel, and click the sheet thumbnail.
Tips:
- Use the search box at the top to quickly find a specific sheet.
- To open a previous version, click Versions on the thumbnail and select the desired version.
The plan sheet opens with the most recent markup displayed by default.

- Click 'Existing Markups' to view the full list of markups previously created on that sheet.

- Selected Markups: Lists the markups currently selected and visible on the plan sheet..
Choose the Markups You Want to View
You can select markups in two ways:
1. Search Markups: Use the 'Search' field at the top to quickly locate a specific markup.
2. Browse the Markups: Browse markups by Contractor, Document/Module Type, and the Specific Document.
- Trade Type: Shows the contractor types who created markups on the sheet. Select the trade type you want to explore.
After selecting a trade type, the next screen displays the document or module types used to create markups (e.g., RFIs, Submittals, Punch Lists).

- Document Type: Select the type of document through which the markup was created—such as Plans, RFIs, Submittals, Punch Lists, and more.

- If the selected document type contains multiple items (e.g., multiple RFIs or Submittals), choose the specific item (e.g., the RFI name)

- Use the checkboxes to select their associated markups.
- Repeat the selection process to include additional markups you want to view simultaneously.
The markups you have selected are listed under Selected Markups.
- Click 'Add' to display the chosen markups on the plan sheet.
All selected markups will now appear on the plan sheet.
The top stripe displays all selected markups, each assigned a unique color code.
- Click the ‘X’ button next to a markup to remove it from the view.
View Markup Layers
The Layer Editor, located on the left, shows each markup as an expandable/collapsible tree structure, listing all elements within that markup.
- Each markup has a color code, and on the plan sheet, each element is highlighted in its corresponding color to indicate which markup it belongs to.
- Selecting an element in the Layer Editor highlights its location on the drawing for easy reference.
