Add Lines and Arrows

Modified on Fri, 21 Nov at 1:50 AM

The arrow tool lets you add lines and arrows to point to an area, a spot, etc., or make a length markup on the plan drawing. You can easily resize and rotate the element to point to the area to be marked.

If the sheet is calibrated for the drawing’s scale, the line automatically displays the length of it making it easy to measure lengths and distances directly from the drawing.

  • If the plan includes a clear printed scale, Linarc detects and applies it automatically. An indicator confirms the applied scale when you open the sheet.
  • If no scale is visible—or if the sheet contains drawings with different scales—you’ll need to perform a one-time manual calibration. See here for steps.

To add a line or an arrow

  • Choose the arrow tool from the toolbar and select line or arrow depending on the markup you want to make.
  • Click the spot on the plan where you want to place the markup.

  • Click the arrow/line to select it.
  • Use the handles at the edges to rotate and/or resize the arrow/line to the required orientation and size.
  • Drag the arrow/line to the precise location.

The line also shows the length of it if the sheet is pre-calibrated.

To change the color and stroke width

  • Click on the arrow to select it
  • Click the 'Stroke' tool
  • Choose the color from the palette
    • Alternatively, use the color picker at the bottom right to choose a custom color
  • Size - Use the slider to set up the brush width for the markup

Your selection takes effect on the currently selected markup and is auto-saved for your next markup tool.

The markup element is added as a layer to the 'Draft' group. It is shown in the layer editor on the left.

  • Use the eyeicon to show or hide the layer
  • Click the trashcanicon to remove an element added by mistake
  • Click the element label in the layer editor and edit it with a brief description of its purpose, if needed, to keep your elements organized.
  • Go to the next tool if you want to add more markup elements
  • Once you are done with the markup elements, save the layer group as a markup. See Publish Markups for more details
