Calibrate a Drawing

Modified on Mon, 23 Jun at 5:30 AM

Drawings are created at various scales, so it’s essential to calibrate the Linarc markup tools individually for each drawing. Calibration is a straightforward, one-time process. It is enough to calibrate the ruler tool to match the scale used in the drawing. The calibration is applied to all other length and area tools in the available markup tools. This initial calibration is saved for the drawing, allowing you to use any tool for distance/area markups at any time thereafter without needing to recalibrate.

Calibrate the ruler

  • Ensure that you are on the desired plan sheet. If not,
    • Open the Plans module of the project by clicking the app launcher, selecting 'Documents' and clicking 'Plans' from the top
    • The Plans module opens at the 'Plan Sheets' screen
    • Click the thumbnail of the sheet you want to open
  • Identify a location on the drawing with known dimensions, for example, a length marking between two points in the drawing. An example is shown below:

  • Click 'Add Markup'
  • Select the 'ruler' tool
  • Click on the location of the drawing where you want to place the ruler.
  • Click the line to select it.
  • Drag the handles at the ends to resize the line to cover the distance of the known dimension.

  • Double-click on the line.
  • Enter the known dimension in the 'Enter the Scale' box in feet/inches. For example, 26'00".
  • Click 'Submit' to save the calibration.
  • Click 'Save Markup' at the top-right.
  • Enter a descriptive label and click OK to confirm and save.
