The schedule look-ahead view empowers contractors to efficiently assess upcoming work and coordinate resources for near-term tasks. This provides clear insights into what lies ahead, ensuring better planning and smoother project execution.
Linarc's intuitive scheduler allows project managers to view and manage look-ahead schedules for any defined duration -typically spanning two to three weeks or customized to fit project needs.
- The scheduler automatically pulls tasks planned for the selected time frame based on the defined start and end dates.
- General Contractors: View scheduled tasks for various subcontractors and stakeholders, directly sourced from the master schedule.
- Subcontractors: Access task schedules specific to their company within the chosen period from their contractor schedule.
- The look-ahead view also provides detailed labor resource requirements for each task on a daily basis, enabling proactive workforce planning.
Labor Requirement Calculation:The labor requirements for a task are determined by dividing the estimated total manhour requirement by the planned task duration. This provides the daily manhour target, which is then used to calculate the required number of crew members.
Example Calculation:
Estimated total manhours: 560
Planned task duration: 10 working days
To find the daily manhour requirement:
560 manhours/10 working days=56 manhours per day
Assuming each crew member works 7 hours per day, the number of crew members required is:
56 manhours per day/7 hours per crew member=8 crew members
Hence 8 crew members are required per day, spanning the planed number of days.
Any fractional result from this calculation is rounded up to the next whole number to ensure sufficient workforce coverage.
To view the look-ahead schedule
- Ensure that you are on the project schedule module. If not,
- Ensure that you are on the management console of the project
- Click the app launcher icon
in the top-right and select 'Schedule'

The table displays a list of leaf-level tasks from the WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) hierarchy that fall within the defined time period. Each task is mapped against the scheduled days, with an ‘X’ mark indicating the specific days when the task is planned for execution.
The 'Default View' shows all columns in the table. You can remove the columns you do not want to see from the table. For example, if you want to see only certain dates in the table, right-click on the column header and de-select the dates you don't want to view in the table.
- Task Name - The label of the task, deliverable, or activity.
- Contractor - The contractor to whom the task item is assigned. For subcontractors, they can view only the tasks assigned to them.
- Select the 'Resource Load' checkbox to view the crew resource requirements for each day for each task.
