Master Schedule - Overview

Modified on Tue, 29 Oct at 3:55 AM

The master schedule is structured around the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) of the project. The General Contractor (GC) develops this WBS framework, which serves as the foundation for the overall project schedule. Within the WBS, the GC outlines key elements such as project phases, the deliverables within each phase, and the corresponding work packages needed to achieve those deliverables, arranged across successive hierarchical levels. These work packages are then assigned to subcontractors, while tasks that the GC self-performs are designated accordingly within the same structure.

  • The master schedule can be built manually by inputting schedule items line by line directly into the Linarc scheduler. Alternatively, you have the flexibility to create your master schedule using your preferred scheduling tools, such as MS Project, Oracle Primavera, MS Excel, or others, and seamlessly import it into the Linarc scheduler for further management and tracking.
  • The GC can also include approved change orders to the project schedule at any time throughout the life-cycle of the project. The scheduler auto-assigns the change order work to the respective contractors and tracks their progress. The process also auto-appends the project budget with the change order costs.
  • Subcontractors report progress updates and completion percentages for the tasks assigned to them through their respective contractor schedulers. These updates feed into the master schedule, allowing GCs to capture and record progress directly in the project schedules. This provides real-time visibility into the status of individual tasks. Linarc’s intelligent algorithms then leverage these task progress percentages to dynamically calculate key parameters, supporting automated reporting and generating insights for dashboards.
