The collaborative master scheduler allows the general contractor to assign chunks of work as deliverables or work packages to subcontractors from the schedule. Once assigned, the items are available in the project management portal of the subcontractor to whom they are assigned. The SC's project manager can then create a contractor schedule by hierarchically breaking down each of the tasks, deliverables/work packages into sub-tasks, and activities according to the timeline of the individual parent items.
Prerequisite: You must first add the subcontractors to the project as collaborators. The subcontractors should be able to access the project on their Linarc project management console, to receive the tasks you assign. See Project Directory - an Overview for more details.
- You can assign child-level tasks of the same parent to different subcontractors.
- If you assign a parent-level task to a subcontractor, all its children will be assigned to the same subcontractor. That is, you cannot assign the children to different subcontractors if the parent is already assigned to one subcontractor.
- The general contractor can also assign tasks to their own company for self-performed work on the project.
To assign contractors
- Navigate to the schedule page of the project
- Identify the row containing the schedule item you want to assign to a subcontractor
- Double-click the row inside the 'Contractor' column
- Choose the contractor company from the drop-down
Tip: Type the first few characters in the contractor cell to search for a specific contractor and choose the contractor from the suggestions.
Your selection gets auto-saved. The name of the contractor company will appear in the 'Contractor' column for the item. It will be pushed to the 'Contractor Schedule' of the subcontractor once published.
Notes: 1. You can change the assigned contractor for a task at any time before the task is published and pushed to the respective contractor. Once published, you cannot replace the contractor. 2. You cannot publish a task without assigning a contractor. For tasks to be executed by you, first, assign them to your company, then publish them.
