    Upload Plans

      Article Summary

Project managers with appropriate permissions can upload plan drawing sets, like floor plans, site plans, elevation drawings, landscape plans, etc., to the project management console as PDF files. Linarc resolves the files, creates individual sheets organized with sheet numbers and titles, and shows them in the 'Plan Sheets' interface. The plans are shared among all project managers and other staff from the general contractor, architects, and subcontractors on their respective web consoles and the mobile app.

The plan drawings are also available to all team members and project managers for attachment to change orders, requests for information (RFIs), submittals, punch lists, etc.

Linarc also supports version control. You can upload any number of new plans or revised versions of the existing plans to the project throughout its lifecycle. Your colleagues will see the latest version by default. However, if required, they can also view the previous versions of the plans.

      Upload a new plan set

      • Open the project management portal
      • Click' Plans' on the top and choose 'Plan Sets' on the left.
      • Click 'Upload Set' on the top right

The 'Sheet Upload' has two options:

      • New Set Upload - Create a set of plan sheets, by uploading PDF files containing single or multiple plan sheets, image files, or zip files containing multiple pdf and/or image files.
      • Upload from existing set - Create a new subset of plan sheets by uploading new plan sheets, revised plan sheets, sheet sets, etc., to existing plan sets.

      • Enter a name for the new set to upload, for example, Architectural, Floor Plans, Electrical, HVAC, etc.
      • Enter a three-letter prefix to identify the set.
      • Click 'Next.'

A new plan set is created.

      • Click 'Upload' on the top right
      • Click 'Browse Files' and navigate to the plan file set or individual sheet file to be uploaded. Accepted file formats are PDF, Zip, and all image file formats.
        • Alternatively, drag and drop the plan file set(s) or individual sheets to the 'Sheet Upload' box.

      • Repeat the process to add more files to upload
      • Click 'Continue' once you have completed adding the files.

The plans module processes the files, resolves them into individual sheets, identifies the sheet numbers and sheet names, and shows the list of individual sheets.

        • Sheet Number - The sheet number as identified from the sheet
        • File name - The sheet name as read from the sheet
        • Tag - The type of plan sheet. You can choose the type from the drop-down
        • Sheet - A thumbnail of the sheet. Click the thumbnail to view the full sheet
        • Actions - A button to delete plan sheets before publishing

Search and Filter options - Use the Find, Filter, and table customization options on the right to search, filter, add/remove columns, etc. See Search, Filter, Column Customization, and Table Views for guidance on this.

The details like the sheet number and name are read from the sheets from standard locations. If these details are not present or printed in a nonstandard format or location, then the corresponding fields are shown blank. You can manually add missing details. You can also edit identified values if required.

      • Click on the field for entering missing data or editing auto-fetched data and enter the details
      Tip:
Click the thumbnail to identify the sheet number and sheet name for entering them manually.
      • Click 'Upload' and repeat the process to add more sheets to the set.
      • Ensure that the correct tag value is set for each sheet. This helps in categorizing the sheets and searching sheets that belong to a specific division of work
      Tip:
The uploaded sheets are saved as a draft plan set. You can pause the process if you want to add more sheets or edit the details at a later time before publishing. See View and manage draft plan sets for guidance on this.
      • Once you are done, click 'Publish Sheets' on the top to save the sheets to the project

      • Click 'Publish' in the confirmation dialog

The plan sheets screen shows the added plans. Now the plans are available to all team members through their web consoles and mobile apps.

      • Use the options at the top right to change the view, search and filter the plan drawings. See View plans for more details
      • Click a thumbnail to view the full plan
      • Repeat the process to add more plan sets for various divisions of work.

Upload new or revised plan sets or add sheets to existing sets

You add new plan sheets or new versions of existing plans sheets to an existing set and save them as a subset. To add a new version, make sure that the sheet number is identical to the previous version.

      To upload new/revised sheets

      • Open the project management console
      • Click 'Plans' on the top and choose 'Plan Sheets' on the left.
      • Click 'Upload Plans' on the top right

      • Choose the plan set to which you want to upload new/revised sheets
      • Click 'Next'
      • Click 'Upload' on the top right
      • Click 'Browse Files' and navigate to the plan file set or individual sheet file(s) to be uploaded. Accepted file formats are PDF, Zip, and all image file formats.
        • Alternatively, drag and drop the plan file set(s) or individual sheets to the 'Sheet Upload' box.
      • Repeat the process to add more files to upload
      • Click 'Continue'

The Plan Sheets screen shows the list of sheets with their sheet numbers and sheet names as identified. You can add missing details or edit the details as explained above.

      Tip:
The uploaded sheets are saved as a draft plan set. You can pause the process if you want to add more sheets or edit the details at a later time before publishing. See View and manage draft plan sets for guidance on this.
      • Click 'Publish'

The plans module creates a new subset for the chosen plan set and adds the uploaded sheets to it. The new subset is named as the main set with a serial number suffix. For example, the first subset to the set 'FLO' is named 'FLO-1.'

      • Repeat the process to add more revisions and new sheets at any time.
