    Upload plan revisions

      Article Summary

Project managers can upload successively updated versions of the plan drawings to their projects so that the latest drawings are shared among those who work on them.

The process of uploading a different version of a drawing set is similar to uploading the first set. Typically, the later versions of plan sheets are uploaded to an existing plan set. The system creates a subset for the existing set by adding a serial number suffix to the set name to accommodate the newer versions. You can also upload the revisions as a new set if required. This article explains how to upload a revision drawing or a set to an existing set.

By default, users are presented with the latest version of any drawing. However, if needed, users can also view the previous versions of the same drawing from the same interface.

      Permissions:

Typically, the general contractor can upload the plan sets and plan sheet revisions. The plans are available to all project managers from all contractors and architects.

Upload an updated version of a plan set

      • Open the project management console
      • Click 'Plans' on the top and choose 'Plan Sheets' from the left
      • Click 'Upload Plans' at the top right

      • Choose the plan set to which you want to upload new/revised sheets under 'Upload from existing set'
      • Click 'Next'
      • Click 'Upload' on the top right
      • Click 'Browse Files' and navigate to the plan file set or individual sheet file(s) to be uploaded. Accepted file formats are PDF, Zip, and all image file formats.
        • Alternatively, drag and drop the plan file set(s) or individual sheets to the 'Sheet Upload' box.
      • Repeat the process to add more files to upload
      • Click 'Continue'

The Plan Sheets screen shows the list of sheets with their sheet numbers and sheet names as identified.

        • Sheet Number - The sheet number as identified from the sheet
        • File name - The sheet name as read from the sheet
        • Tag - The type of plan sheet. You can choose the type from the drop-down
        • Sheet - A thumbnail of the sheet. Click the thumbnail to view the full sheet

Search and Filter options - Use the Find, Filter, and table customization options on the right to search, filter, add/remove columns, etc. See Search, Filter, Column Customization, and Table Views for guidance on this.

The details like the sheet number and name are read from the sheets from standard locations. If these details are not present or printed in a nonstandard format or location then the corresponding fields are shown blank. You can manually add missing details. You can also edit identified values if required.

      • Click on the field for entering missing data or editing auto-fetched data and enter the details
      Tip:
Click the thumbnail to identify the sheet number and sheet name for entering them manually.
      • Click 'Upload' and repeat the process to add more sheets to the set.
      • Choose the tag value for each sheet. This helps in categorizing the sheets and searching sheets that belong to a specific division of work
      Tip:
The uploaded sheets are saved as a draft plan set. You can pause the process if you want to add more sheets or edit the details at a later time before publishing. See View and manage draft plan sets for guidance on this.
      • Once you are done, click 'Publish Sheets' on the top to save the sheets to the project

      • Click 'Publish' in the confirmation dialog

The plans module creates a new subset for the chosen plan set and adds the uploaded sheets to it. The new subset is named as the main set with a serial number suffix. For example, the first subset to the set 'FLO' is named 'FLO-1.'

      • Repeat the process to add more revisions and new sheets at any time.

The newer versions of the existing plan sheets are identified by the sheet numbers. Markups present in the previous version of a plan sheet are automatically carried over to the new version of the sheet.

See View Plan Markups for more details on viewing and managing markups on the new version of the sheet.
