Mark areas with shapes and cloud

      Article Summary

The shape tools let you mark an area, a spot, or an item in the plan drawing with a square, rectangle, circle, ellipse, or cloud with a color of your choice and a fill. You can easily resize and rotate the shape to match the area to be marked.

      To add an area markup

      • Open the plan to add the markup.
      • Choose the border color, stroke width, and background fill color as required. See Setup stroke width, color, and background if you need guidance on this.
      • Long touch the square, circle, or cloud tool.
      • Drag the tool to the spot where you want to add the markup.

      • Long touch the added shape to reveal the handles at the corners.

      • Use the handles to rotate and/or resize the markup to the required size.

You can also use the rectangle and ellipse markups to measure areas and add them as markups. See below for more details.

The markup is created as a layer on the plan sheet and saved temporarily as a draft.

You can continue adding markup layers and save the group by publishing it. See Publish markups for more guidance.

      Add length/area measurements

      Prerequisite:
Calibrate the ruler tool for the marked rectangles/ellipses to calculate the areas covered by them. See Add length measurements if you need guidance on this.
      • Create a rectangle or ellipse markup covering the required area on the drawing
      • Open the layer editor by clicking the layers button

      • Expand the layer group that contains the Rectangle or the circle/ellipse markup
      Tip:
If the markup is a part of the currently created group, the group is named 'Draft.'
      • Long touch the square/rectangular or the circle/ellipse markup on the drawing to identify the layer in the layer editor

The corresponding layer is highlighted with blue in the layer editor.

      • Tap the ellipses button beside the layer name to open the context-sensitive menu

      • Use the toggle switches in the menu to view the respective values in the markup.

The values are shown with the units (feet or meters) as the ruler is calibrated.

      The available options are:

      Square/Rectangle

      • Area
      • Length
      • Breadth

      Round/Ellipse

      • Area
      • Hor Radius
      • Vert Radius

Long press the markup and use the handles to resize it to measure unknown areas or lengths.
