The collaboration feature lets you have a context-based conversation to chat with the other participants of the tasks. The instant messaging chat helps you have real-time communication with the other parties, like the foreman and field crew involved in the work, to clarify your doubts, get opinions, etc.
The conversations are item-specific and include only selected participants involved in the task. Use the links below to jump to the section you need help with:
You can also view and respond to these chats from the stand-alone collaboration app.
Start a chat
You can start your discussions through chats explicitly created for each task. The conversation automatically includes the foreman and fellow crewmembers assigned to that task so that you can converse with them.
To open a task-specific chat
- Tap 'More' at the bottom
- Choose 'Collaborate'
- Choose the project
The list of tasks assigned to you opens:
- Tap on the task to open the chat created with that task as the topic:
The conversation opens with any previous messages shared by the participants.
Chat away! Type your messages to share with the crew members and get their responses. You can add attachments like photos and documents to your messages. If required, you can add more participants to the chat.
Respond to a chat
You will get a notification whenever there is a new message in your conversations.
- Tap the notification to view and respond to the chat.
Tip:
You can access the chat from both the TimeCard app and the collaboration app if you want to respond to a discussion at a later time. To open the chat from the TimeCard app, follow the steps given above.
Add attachments to chat messages
You can share photos, location, document files, documents scanned using your device camera, etc., with your team members through the chat. You can also schedule events like field meetings and pass them on to your team members.
To share an item
- Touch the paperclip icon

- Choose the source and item type to share:
- Camera - Capture a new photo using your device's camera.
- Photo Library - Browse the picture you want to use from your device gallery.
- Location - Share your current location on a map
- Document - Upload a document file from your device's local storage
- Scan using camera - Capture the image of a document using your device camera, edit it for size, orientation, skew correction, etc., and upload it to share
- Share Event - Schedule an event and share it with your team members
