Subcontractor - Create and manage contractor schedule

      Article Summary

The 'Contractor Schedule' interface shows the work awarded by the general contractor to a subcontractor as scheduled tasks (deliverables and work packages) at the top level. The subcontractor can break down the tasks to add the required sub-tasks and activities as children at successive hierarchy levels to create the contractor schedule. Each sub-task and activity is set with corresponding duration, start/end dates, and dependencies.

The project manager of the subcontractor can then:

      • Mark progress for each task and subtask and share the progress of the assigned tasks to the GC.
      • Update the schedule periodically depending on the course of the work.

      Access the schedule

      • Open the project management console
      • Click 'Schedule' on the top
      • Select 'Schedule' on the left

The schedule shows the deliverables and work packages assigned to you with the WBS structure and IDs as defined by the GC. Click here for the descriptions of the columns.

      • Right-click on an item and choose 'Add Subtask' to add a new sub-task item, for example, the deliverables, activities, etc.
      • Repeat the process to add task items of successive levels.
      • For the lowest level items, for example, the lowest level tasks and activities, add the number of days, laboror manhours, planned production quantity, and the planned start date. The estimated end date is auto-calculated.
        • Start dates for dependent tasks are auto-filled once you specify the predecessors and the dependency relationships. You can also change the date as required.
        • The end date is auto-calculated.
        • You can also set the start and end dates for tasks in the Gantt view. Just drag and drop the bar representing an item near the required date range and drag the left and right edges of the bar to particular dates as required.
      • You can also add tasks from the estimates you created for the project. When adding from estimates, the task code is auto-populated. You can specify the allotted manhours for the task imported from the estimate. The allotted manhours value is deducted from the total manhours specified for the task in the estimate. See Add tasks from estimates for more details.
      • The duration, manhours, and start/end dates are auto-calculated for the parent-level tasks from their children.
      • You can also select an item and use the indent buttons at the top to set the hierarchy levels and define parent-child relationships for the items.
      • Subtasks created by you should also be self-assigned and published to enable pushing them to the foremen.
