Setup work shifts and site settings

      Article Summary

The site settings let you specify the work shifts required for the project, working days in a week, and foremen for each shift. These settings are essential to maintain attendance records and calculate working hours and overtime for each crew member using the inputs from their timecard entries.

      Permissions:

      • General contractor - Can set up shift timings and working days for their staff on-site. They can also specify the safety rules followed on site. The safety rules apply to staff belonging to the general contractor and all subcontractors working on the site.
      • Subcontractors - Can set up shift timings and working days that apply only to the staff and workers belonging to their company.

      Configure site settings

      • Open the project management console
      • Click 'Site' on the top then choose Site Setup on the left

      The interface lets you:

      Site Address

      • Shows the location of the construction site.

      An example is shown below:

      Working Days

      • Set the working weekdays for the crew on the site
        • Click the pencil icon at the top right of the 'Working Days' pane.
        • Select the working days in a week and click the 'Save' icon at the top right for your settings to take effect

      Note:
Only the allowed working days configured at the company level are available for selection.

The project-wide working days setting takes effect on all other configuration modules, for example, only the working days are considered for defining start days and calculating the end dates for tasks and subtasks in the scheduler, calculating due dates for workflow items like RFI, Submittals, Change Orders, Punch Lists, etc. Also, the crew members are allowed to clock their time cards only on the working days.

      Active shifts

Depending on various factors like volume of work, availability of workers, state you are working in, and contract period, you can set the number of work shifts required per day. Only the allowed working shifts configured at the company level are available for selection.

You can set the start and end times for each shift. Shifts can have different durations as required for the project.

You need to specify a foreman for each shift who assigns work to the crew members, oversees the work, and approves the tasks and timecards for the crew in the respective shift.

      To configure site shifts

      • Click the pencil icon at the top right of the 'Active Shifts' pane

There are three available shifts: 'Regular,' 'Shift 1' and 'Shift 2'.

      • Use the toggle switch in the 'Active' column beside a shift to enable or disable it for the site.
      • Specify the start and end times for the shift using the time-selection drop-down menus.

      • Select the chief foreman responsible for the shift at the site.

      Note:
The 'Foremen' dropdown shows only those enrolled as 'foreman' in your company account and have not already been assigned to a different project for the same shift timing. You can change the foreman for the shift at any time later, following the same procedure.
      • Repeat the process to add more shifts
      • Click the 'Save' button at the top right to save your settings
      • You can allocate crew members for the respective shifts from the 'Add Crew' interface. This is useful to track time card entries and overtime allotments for the crew.

      Site Rules

      • This pane lets you add the rules and regulations and safety measures to be followed on the worksite by the field crew.
      • You can also use this field for any notes, for example, notifying the site WiFi network and password.
      • These rules are shown on the crew mobile app.

      To add site rules

      • Click the pencil icon at the top right of the 'Site Rules' pane

      • Type the rules, safety measures, and/or notes to your field crew in the text field.
      • Click the 'Save' button at the top right to save your message.
