    Project Directory - an Overview

      Article Summary

A construction project is where contractors of different trades and skills work together. There are many project delivery methods in the construction industry. The most widely adopted are Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build methods. For example, the most convenient and efficient Design-Bid-Build method involves architects/engineers designing a project and requesting bids from general contractors. The winning general contractor takes charge of the project, invites subcontractors of various trades to collaborate, and assigns them jobs considering various criteria to complete the project successfully.

The general contractor can send invitations to potential companies to participate in their project from their project management console. The recipients can analyze and accept the invitation and enroll themselves in the project. Only enrolled companies are available to accept work from the general contractor.

This article explains how the general contractor of a project can invite other parties to take part in the project. You can add only those contractors and vendors and other companies who have already been associated with your company as partners and vendors.

Once invited, Linarc notifies the contact person in the company. The contact person should accept the invitation and assign a project manager from their company to the project. The project manager can access the project from their project management portal. They can accept your job assignments, upload estimates, create field schedules, and manage their part of the jobs in the project. Also, they can access main resources like plans and other documents, upload submittals, exchange RFI's, accept change orders, punch lists, etc., through the project management portal.

Accepted subcontractors are added to the project directory. The GC's project manager can select the subcontractor while creating the schedule and assign different phases of work to respective contractors.
